Forget New Year resolutions! In this retreat, we'll focus instead on nurturing our creativity and shrinking the inner critic to set the tone for the following 12 months! You'll have time to write, reflect, develop ideas and finish or start your projects.
Booking a writing retreat is self-care. Set your intentions for the year in the beautiful Burlington Hotel and spend two wonderful days playing on the page without pressure and with Kerry's support.
You’ll spend the weekend with understanding and welcoming humans who will encourage your creativity whatever you write and whatever stage you're at, from beginner to more advanced. All writers are very welcome.

Retreats are notoriously expensive so WLAG has worked hard to make this two-day retreat affordable.
The retreat cost covers lunch on both days, coffee, tea and biscuits, and full weekend support including an optional one-to-one session with Kerry. You’ll be guided through playful, gentle writing sprints, leaving inspired with a deeper understanding of how to carry your writing forward with joy into 2026 and beyond.
Note: accommodation not included. You can choose to book the hotel itself or book accommodation of your choice that matches your budget - on booking you’ll be sent a range of suggestions from budget to luxe. You are welcome to arrive on Saturday morning for the retreat and stay in Folkestone on Saturday night or spend the whole weekend--whatever suits you!

YOUR HOST
Kerry Ryan is the founder of Write Like a Grrrl. She won the 2024 Hachette GYOS Prize, the Spilling Ink Short Story Prize, the New South Writing Prize and has been shortlisted for the Myriad First Editions Prize, the Writers & Artists Prize, and the HG Wells Prize. Her fiction and poetry have appeared in The Manchester Review, The Kenyon Review, 3am Magazine, and more. Kerry combines a Masters with distinction and a PhD in Creative Writing with extensive experience leading workshops, collaborating with fellow artists and creating inclusive creative communities
